Kardamyli is lacing up its running shoes and waiting for you as it does every year! On March 22 & 23, 2025, it challenges you to embrace the raw beauty of stone, run through cobblestone paths, marvel at gorges and the sea, and compete with yourself.

14 Years of History
For 14 years, the Taygetos Challenge has been writing its own history in the world of mountain running. With consistency, passion, and respect for nature and athletes, it has become synonymous with quality and authentic adventure. This year, we continue the tradition with even more surprises.
New: The First Kids’ Race!
For the first time, we welcome our young friends with a kids’ race where everyone is a winner! Aiming to promote athletic ideals and a love for nature, the kids’ race brings families together through the Taygetos Challenge experience, offering children the joy of participation beyond competition.
The Routes
From the marathon to shorter distances, there is a route for everyone:
Marathon 40k, 2,504m of elevation gain: A legendary race passing through the Vyros Gorge, Stenema, and Doubitsia, offering panoramic views, with 80% of the course in a protected Natura 2000 zone.
Experience 22k, 1,224m of elevation gain: Not for beginners, but definitely a race for well-trained athletes. This course shares parts of the Marathon route, including the Vyros Gorge and sections of the Doubitsia passage.
Basic 10k, 460m of elevation gain: The perfect route to experience the Taygetos Challenge, feel the mountain’s rhythm, and set your first goal.
Fun 5k, 201m of elevation gain: For those who want to join the celebration, discover the Taygetos Challenge, and enjoy a route full of positive energy.
Kids’ Race: The new addition where kids and adults run together on the stone-paved paths of Old Kardamyli.

Taygetos is full of hidden treasures. From the ancient cobblestone path of the Royal Road in the Vyros Gorge to secret spots like Stenema and Doubitsia, every step connects you to nature and history.
