Every year before the race, the paths of the area are marked and cleaned with gentle manual means, an essential task for the promotion of the routes and for the safety of the athletes. It is worth noting that 2/3 of the race trails pass through the Natura 2000 protected area.

The Taygetos Challenge, for fifteen years now, has been contributing to the maintenance, upgrading and promotion of these ancient paths as a special part of the natural, cultural and now sporting heritage of our country.
